The Barrie Royals Basketball Club has been providing basketball opportunities to athletes in the City of Barrie and Simcoe County since 1985. We have different program options for youth of all ages, skills and abilities.

REP/Travel Teams

What to Expect After a successful try out and invitation to join
one of the teams, players and families can expect:
  • A fair and fun experience where players will develop on and off the court
  • Annual Registration fees of $1200. The registration fee includes fees for gyms, sanctioned games, referees, OBA fees, OBA Championships, insurance and equipment.
  • Uniform Fees; approximately $250. Uniform includes 2 jerseys, 2 shorts and a warm-up shirt.
  • Teams are made of up 10-15 players dedicated to the practice and tournament schedule
  • Practices starting late September through to the conclusion of the season in the spring
  • The teams play approximately 20-30 games against teams from around the Province throughout the season
  • Most teams will participate in at least 3-5 weekend tournaments some of which will require travel. Hotel arrangements are made by the coach or team manager; however, families will be responsible for hotel and meal costs.
  • High school aged players have their tryouts in September but do not typically practice during their high school basketball season
  • A year-end club celebration in the form of an awards banquet
  • We strongly encourage parents to volunteer their time in some way throughout the season
  • Tryouts will take place in early September

Juel Teams

What to Expect After a successful try out and invitation to join
one of the teams, players and families can expect:
  • JUEL is an independent provincial League, providing opportunities for female players throughout the province of Ontario through a team franchised system so that players can still live at home but gain advanced basketball training
  • The Barrie Royals offers the Juel experience under the name ‘Simcoe Muskoka Royals’ to female players who are looking for elite opportunities and may have their sights set on joining a college/university team or desire a career in basketball
  • There are two Juel programs offered: Juel Prep- females grade 9 and 10 Juel - females grade 11 and 12 (only Juel Prep for the 23.24 season)
  • Registration Fees for the Juel and Juel Prep are set each season but are typically around $1200 per player

  • JUEL PREP TRYOUT DATES: There will be three tryouts in total. Tryout 1 and 2 - Aug 18th 6-8pm, Aug. 20th 4-6pm and Aug. 27th 4-6pm @ Georgian College;

Prep for Rep

What to Expect
  • Preparatory sessions to get ready for tryouts for the upcoming season. Practices will include fundamentals, dribbling, ball handling, shooting, and various drills.
  • We invite all U10 -U14 players to join this program in preparation for rep league try-outs. There is a 20 player limit per session.
  • When: August 28 -31
  • Specific Dates: 2023/2024 season dates are listed in the schedule below.
  • Location: Timothy Christian School
  • Cost: $40
  • Reminders: Arrive 15 minutes early, bring your own ball, bring a water bottle, and sessions are closed to parents
